Berri is the commercial centre of the Riverland resion and it is located 227 km to the North East of Adelaide. Berri was once a wood refueling stop for Paddle Steamers and barges which plied into the Murray River.

Berri Estates winery and distillery is the largest winemaking facility in the Southern Hemisphere is located near to Berri. 13 km to the West there is Murray River National Park and 10 km to the South West there is Kia Kia Nature Trail which is ideal for Bush Walkers. Wilabalangaloo flora and fauna reserve is located 5 km to the North of Sturt Highway
