Bicheno

Bicheno, on the eastern coast of Tasmania, was originally a whaling town.  It is now a resort town (population around 700) with cool, pleasant temperatures and wide sandy beaches.  The pace is relaxed, the wildlife is varied, and the scenery is beautiful.  This combination of factors make for some adventurous escapes.

Bicheno Penguin Tours
A special attraction available near Bicheno is a penguin tour.  The tour begins at dusk, and allows participants to get a good look at a fairy penguin rookery.  The tours are in the evening because the penguins, also known as little penguins, are returning home from the sea at that time.  Bicheno Penguin Tours are located at Town Centre, Tasman Highway, Bicheno, Tasmania.

Governor Island Marine Reserve
Bicheno is one of the best places on earth for temperate water scuba diving.  At Governor Island Marine Reserve, visitors can explore the undersea world first hand while diving, or they can tour the area in a glass bottomed boat.
