In the year 1805, 5000 acres was granted to John Macarthur. Camden was previously known as Cowpastures which was later renamed to Camden. This is the place where his wife Elizabeth conducted her famous experiments of sheep-breeding.
Camden is located at 60 km to the south west of Sydney
on the Camden Valley. Approximate population in the town would be 11000 people. Some of the attractions of the town are Camden history museum located on the john street. Belgenny farm is located in Camden which dates back to 1819. Camden park house which dates back to 1834 is located on the Elizabeth MacArthur Ave. Camden park house and Belgenny farm houses are open to visitors in September.
Museum of Aviation is located approximately 3 km North East of Camden near Narellan.

This estate is located 1 km to the north of Camden on Camden Valley Way. This valley has regular Jazz evenings.
Belgenny Farm (Camden)
Located in the historic Camden Park Estate, Belgenny Farm is a landmark for agricultural history in Australia. Ironbark buildings, luscious greenery and a vineyard, Belgenny is truly picturesque and understandably popular for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Open days are hosted in May, September and October which showcase a range of farming activities.

The most popular being the hot air balloon rides which float across the Macarthur region with views of green valleys and Camden River. Scenic flights head to the Harbour Bridge and Sydney beaches and return. There’s also aerobatic aircraft, helicopters and open cockpit planes.
Oran Park Raceway (Camden)
There’s plenty of action at Oran Park Raceway for the racing enthusiasts including cars, motorbikes, karts and trucks. A number of driver training schools are situated at the raceway as well as a 4WD circuit. Have a go on the dirt tracks with a V8 race buggy as either the driver or the passenger.
