Cervantes was established in the year 1952 and it is located approximately at 256 kilometers of Perth and 53 km towards the west of Brand Highway. This town was named after the wreckage of an American whaling ship Cervantes.

Nambung national park is located 17 km to the south of Cervantes. Visitors can view the Pinnacles by driving through the 17 km stretch of Pinnacle drive through the Nambung national park.
Pinnacle loop is a 3.5 km drive and visitors can view the amazing natural structures that are formed from limestone created from ancient shells. Hangover Bay and Kangaroo Point are renowned for their natural fishing spots either from the bay or from a boat. Thirsty point lookout and Hanson Bay lookout are some of the walking trails through which Cervantes can be seen at a glance.
