Coonamble is present on the Castlereagh highway and is situated on the western plains approximately 518 km to the north west of Sydney.
Attractions in the town include a Historical Museum
in the former police station and stables on the Aberford Street. In the month of October one gets to witness Gold Cup race meeting.
Attractions in the area
Some of the attractions in the area include Hot Bore Bath; maps can be procured from the information center. Warrana Creek Weir located towards the southern end of the town has facilities for boating, swimming and fishing.
Macquarie Marshes are located 80 km to the west of the town and it has sanctuary for water birds. 45 km to the south of Coonamble there is a resorted steam train in the memorial park. Gular Crays is located on the Armitree Street which has a large Yabby hatchery. This district produces wheat, wool, cypress, prine, beef, fat lamb, etc.
