Cygnet, Tasmania, is located about 56 km. south of Hobart on the southern coast of the island. It is one of the major towns in the Huon Valley. In the past few decades, Cygnet has become known as an alternative lifestyle town, with whole foods stores, art studios, and craft shops, but the main industry is growing apples and other fruits. The views of the ocean and mountains in the area are stunning.
Cygnet Living History Museum
Located in the old Methodist Church, the Cygnet Living History Museum features items useful to the area in the past, such as equipment for timber harvesting.
Port Cygnet Sailing Club
The Port Cygnet Sailing Club has about 150 members, but they host yacht and boat races nearly every weekend throughout the temperate seasons. The main event is the annual Cygnet Regatta, a race held in March, which boast as many as 50 or more entrants. All of the events are free to the public.
