Scone is located approximately 280 km to the north of Sydney is the world`s second largest thoroughbred and horse breeding centre.
Attractions in the Town
Mare and Foal Elizabeth Park present on the Kelly Street have a life size bronze sculpture by Gabriel Sterk. Historical Society Museum is present on the Kingdom Street and it is open only on the days of Wednesday and Sunday.
Attractions in the Area
There are several wineries located in the area. Tours are organized to view nearby thoroughbreds and sheep station. Lake Glenbawn located at approximately 15 km to the east is an ideal place for water sports; good bass fishing, horse rides, and etc. 50 km to the North East one can view the Cobb and Co coach stop which was in operational during the Gold Rush era. Burning Mountain situated at 20 km to the north is a deep coal steam that has been smouldering for at least 5000 years.
